Surface Electromyography (sEMG)
What is sEMG?
At a modern Chiropractic Office, your doctor is committed to using the highest quality research and clinical grade instrumentation available for the purpose of detecting and correcting the Vertebral Subluxation.
Surface Electromyography is a non-invasive, painless device which measures the amount of electrical activity your muscle releases when they are contracting more, commonly known as muscle tension. It is similar in function to an EKG which measures heart activity.
Why is sEMG testing important?
Muscles have a tendency to "brace" in response to spinal misalignments known as Vertebral Subluxations. These Subluxations create nerve interference which affect muscles, blood vessels and internal organs. By performing an sEMG the doctor gets a preliminary idea of the areas which are affected, if the problem is primarily in the muscle or joint and if there is any potential nerve involvement. It gives the doctor a more accurate idea if proceeding with X-Rays are necessary.

X-Ray Studies
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to to get a full evaluation of a patient. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Report of Findings
Once all the information and examinations have been performed, Dr. Teri N. Tran will give you a report of findings to answer the three most popular questions:
-
Can you help me?
-
What do you recommend that I do to get better?
-
How much is it going to cost?
After discussing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine and reviewing any x-rays or tests, Dr. Teri N. Tran will discuss recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If Dr. Teri N. Tran believes she can help you, she will recommend treatment and a wellness program.
